OFP's primary purpose is to share Christ, encourage community, show love, and provide a hot
breakfast on Sunday mornings to the homeless. We do have a few attend who are not homeless
but are probably food insufficient. We have 6 churches assist us on a rotation schedule to
provide the sermon, sometimes music, and food.

Cops for Tots

Cops for Tots 2025

The Hickory Police Department is now accepting applications to participate in the 2025 Cops for Tots Wish House. HPD is also collecting monetary donations and new toys for our 2025 Cops for Tots program. 

The program began in the early 1980s by serving approximately twelve families. It has expanded over the years, and now 100’s of children from Hickory and the surrounding area benefit from this program each year. 

The Cops for Tots Wish House will be held from December 10 to December 12, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hickory Police Training Annex located at 320 3rd Street SW in Hickory. 

Participants are required to pre-register.

To participate in the 2025 Christmas Wish House, you must:

• Be a parent or guardian of the child receiving Cops for Tots services

• Parent or Guardian must present a current governmental photo ID

• Parent or guardian must present a Medicaid card or a birth certificate for each child.

• Be a resident of Catawba, Burke, Alexander, or Caldwell Counties


Additionally:

• Families who are receiving services from the Christmas Bureau in 2025 are not eligible

• Social security cards will not be accepted. 

• Children from birth to 13 years of age are eligible to receive items from this program. 


A collection box for new, unwrapped toys is located in the lobby of the Hickory Police Department at 347 2nd Avenue SW in Hickory.

Monetary donations can be mailed to: Cops for Tots, Hickory Police Department, 347 2nd Avenue SW, Hickory, NC 28602. Make checks payable to “Cops for Tots”.

100% of donations are used to support the Hickory Police Department Christmas Wish House, children in need or other community childhood programs. Additional information on requirements for the Cops for Tots program may be obtained by calling 828-261-2600 ext. 2642 or email at cops4tots@hickorync.gov.
