Mr. Neil Everett
Experience
Hello! My name is Neil Everett, and this is my second year as the principal at Mill Creek Middle School, and my eighth year in administration. I love Mill Creek! I live in this community, my wife teaches in this community (Catawba Elementary School) and my children attend school here in the Bandys feeder.
I started my career in education as a social studies teacher at Maiden High School, where I taught and coached. I began in administration as an assistant principal and athletic director at St. Stephens High School, in Hickory, NC.
Education
-
B.A. – Social Studies Education, University of North Carolina at Pembroke
-
M.A. – Executive Leadership, Gardner-Webb University
Why I Became an Educator
I became an educator because I believe that the easiest way to change lives is through education. A product of Richmond County Schools, I had a lot of great teachers who believed in me and held me to a higher standard than I had for myself, at times. In particular, I had a special history teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Byrd, my junior year of high school who had extremely high expectations for me and never let me give up, even when I wanted to. I want to pass on these high expectations to the next generation of leaders in our community! I am a firm believer in the power of athletics through education. I always enjoy seeing kids compete, and the values that athletics teach through determination and hard work!
Favorite Activities
When I am not at school, I love the outdoors! I have traveled this great country hunting and fishing and through that, have been able to see places that few people will get to see in their lifetime. My family is extremely important to me, and I take every opportunity I can to spend time with them, whether it's at home or a ball field somewhere!
